The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is unlike any Mustang you've seen before. This revolutionary sports car is modeled after the famed Mustang GT3 race car, but its unique design makes it ready for the road rather than the racetrack. With unmatched power and mind-blowing speed, the GTD is a purebred American car with a European racing spirit, able to take on some of the most well-known European cars on the track. Design and Engineering Marvels

The designers of the 2025 Mustang GTD had one thing in mind: racing. This revolutionary sports car has joined the elite group of sports cars to complete the 73 corners of Germany's infamous 12.9-mile-long Nürburgring course in under 7 minutes. This task is not to be taken lightly, so Ford's design team pulled out all the stops to ensure the GTD had the same capability and power as the top race cars of our time. 

The GTD includes Multimatic dynamic suspension spool valve technology to help it absorb forces from the road better than ever. An advanced rear suspension and adjustable dampers deliver an enhanced reaction to varying road conditions. For days when drivers really want to enter race mode, the touch of a button will put the GTD in Track Mode, lowering the ride height by 1.57 inches to improve aerodynamics and handling. 

The design of the car creates a near-perfect 50/50 weight balance. The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD's engine is connected to the rear transaxle via a lightweight carbon fiber driveshaft, making for exceptional handling and responsiveness when making tight turns. The GTD also features the first dry sump oil system to ever be used on a roadgoing Mustang. This system provides increased oil capacity and reliability while reducing oil starvation under high G-force conditions. 

Unrivaled Driving Experience

The name of the Mustang GTD comes from the International Motor Sports Association's Grand Touring Daytona racing class, so it comes as no surprise that this Ford is built for racing. The GTD is, in fact, the most powerful Mustang that Ford has ever created. The supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine produces 815 horsepower and has a top track speed of an astonishing 202 mph. Its official time on the Nürburgring course was just 6 minutes and 57.685 seconds for one lap, firmly placing among the elite race cars on the market. 

Surprisingly, the GTD has even more power than the GT3 race car that it was modeled after, which uses a 5.4-liter V-8 that generates around 500 horsepower. The GTD's redline is over 7,500 rpm, and the advanced exhaust system features lightweight titanium for eye-catching appeal. Leaving behind the technical regulations from a sanctioning body, the GTD's status as a road-legal car has opened the door for Ford to go all out when it comes to its driving capabilities. 

A rear-mounted eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle allows for smooth and dynamic shifting. Every panel on the GTD is made from carbon fiber, except for its door skins. Its body is designed to hug the road with the help of an aggressive front splitter, a vented hood with vented fenders, and an available C-pillar-mounted and hydraulically controlled rear wing. There's also an available aerodynamic equipment package that adds a carbon fiber underbody tray and hydraulically controlled front flaps, helping to balance airflow and front-to-rear downforce. These tech features wouldn't be allowed on a sanctioned GT3-class race car.

The trunk space is taken up by heat exchangers that accept air directed downward from the rear window via two air scoops. This system helps cool the transaxle. The Mustang GTD uses 12.8-inch-wide tires in front with 13.6-inch-wide tires in the back. The car comes standard with 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, but optional magnesium wheels help lower weight while helping maintain the GT3 race car look. The wheels of the GTD are anchored by five lugs instead of the center-locking race car design, but the racing feel is preserved thanks to the standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. 

Sleek Interior Design

The interior design of the GTD is set to feature premium leather, suede, and carbon fiber. RECARO bucket seats are featured in the front, but any rear passenger space has been replaced with cargo space, since the trunk is filled with drivetrain components. The paddle shifters offer a unique design element, as they're 3D printed from titanium sourced from retired Lockheed Martin F-22 fighter jets. Ford will offer several interior color and equipment options.

You can see all your vehicle's information thanks to a 12.4-inch LCD digital display cluster. A center 13.2-inch center touch-screen features videogame-inspired graphics, and both displays are fully customizable to show what you deem most important.
