Local Support in the Albuquerque Area
Community Involvement
For over 20 years, Chalmers Ford has been a proud supporter of our great community. It’s our sincere pleasure to contribute a combined 7,000 volunteer hours every year! In addition, it brings us joy to have donated over 3 million dollars to causes like Meals on Wheels of Albuquerque, UNM Children’s Hospital, Breast Cancer Awareness and many more. So, when you choose Chalmers Ford, you choose to help the community too.
Organizations we’ve worked with:
For over 10 years, Chalmers Ford has worked with Meals-On-Wheels to deliver nutritious meals and provide crucial social contact to those in need regardless of age or disability. In the beginning, Chalmers Ford was a meal pickup location for volunteers on the Westside until the program outgrew the location. Through these years, we not only provide financial support, but we have employees that volunteer every week to deliver meals to clients on the Westside. As one of our employees said, “it makes me feel good to bring a smile to the client’s face knowing I might be the only human contact they have for the day.”
The last thing a family with a child in the hospital needs to worry about is their next meal. Teams of Chalmers Ford employees volunteer throughout the year at the Ronald McDonald House, bringing in the ingredients to cook a hearty meal for the families staying at the house after they spend an exhausting day of being at the hospital with their child. Ronald McDonald House provides a home-away-from-home for families that have children hospitalized and live outside the metro area.
Chalmers Ford has been a proud supporter of United Way of Central New Mexico for over twenty (20) years through employee contributions and company funds as a Corporate Cornerstone Partner. For many years, our employees gave willingly from their paychecks making us the only automotive dealership in Central New Mexico that provided funds to help those most in need in our local communities through the United Way’s Community Fund. We can still proudly say, we are amongst the top contributors and continue to help make our local communities a better place to live.
For the last nineteen (19) years, making sure every child that is hospitalized at UNM Children’s Hospital has a good Christmas is a priority for our employees at Chalmers Ford. Our employees donate money that is matched by Chalmers Ford, volunteer their time to shop, and take time from their work schedule to help Santa Claus deliver gifts to children staying in the hospital at Christmas. We don’t forget the nurses or family members, as they receive a large bag of goodies to help them through the Christmas holiday as well. On Christmas Eve, we provide families with children still hospitalized and hospital staff with a BBQ lunch. Over the years, we have provided the UNM Child Life with art supplies, video games and consoles, TVs, a pool table and much more so children that go visit the Child Life Center are able to stop thinking about their illness and be a normal child, even if it’s for a small amount of time.
Chalmers Ford not only helps humans in need, but we also know it’s important to help animals. As a sponsor of the Tamaya Horse Rehab, we have a team of employees that help feed the horses, clean stalls as well as helped build fences for them. Tamaya Horse Rehab takes in neglected, abused and abandoned horses from throughout New Mexico and rehabilitates them.
Chalmers Ford is committed to ensuring families in our community don’t go hungry. In 2024, our employees organized a food drive to support St. Felix Pantry, a nonprofit that provides groceries to over 500 families each week. In total, we donated 616 pounds of food, helping local families put meals on the table.
Our employees don’t just donate food—they volunteer their time to support St. Felix Pantry’s mission. We believe that giving back is more than a donation; it’s a commitment to our community.
Supporting our community means celebrating its rich culture and heritage. As a Pamplona Festival Sponsor at the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber’s La Noche Encantada 2025, Chalmers Ford was proud to take part in an evening that highlights Hispanic business, tradition, and community.
Each year, this event brings together over 2,000 guests, creating opportunities to connect, celebrate, and support local businesses. At Chalmers Ford, we believe in giving back—not just through service, but by embracing the people and cultures that make New Mexico unique.
For years, Chalmers Ford employees have participated in Jeans Day, a fundraising event supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) of New Mexico. Employees donate $5 each to wear jeans for the day, once a month, with all proceeds going toward Type 1 diabetes research and support programs.
In 2024, our team raised nearly $1,200 to help fund critical research and support those affected by juvenile diabetes. This initiative is just one of the many ways we come together as a company to give back and make a difference in the lives of those around us.
